What it calculates
- Steam and fuel: you enter steam rate, pressure, steam temperature, feed water temperature, fuel type, excess air and efficiency. It returns steam enthalpy, heat duty, fuel consumption, air flow, flue gas flow and steam-to-fuel ratio.
- Fuels: presets for coal, lignite, biomass, rice husk, furnace oil, diesel, natural gas and LPG. You can edit the heating value, air requirement and ash after choosing one.
- Heating surface: the furnace (radiant) area comes from heat flux. The convection area comes from the LMTD and overall U, and the calculator also estimates gas exit temperature.
- Tubes: it gives the number of furnace and convection tubes from tube OD and length. It also gives the minimum wall thickness for the design pressure, with a pass/fail check against the thickness you entered.
